Artist Statement

Single channel video client interview. Multiple location onsite filming, including drone videography, video editing and product delivery. The client was very pleased with the end result and eagerly shared to social media within a day of delivery. Every detail was thought out for this client, even the candles in staging.

Poet's Point of View | Fall 2020. Custom Client Website. WordPress. This client poetry website is one of a kind. Using WordPress for development, Poet's Point of View was custom tailored, breaking the mold of overdone stock website templates.

Nonlinear Narrative Poem | Spring 2020. Original Poetry with compelling imagery. HTML, CSS, Javascript, Adobe Photoshop. This nonlinear visual website was based on my husband Jonathan Bedtelyon's original poem Deep Abyss. The pages are crafted with Photoshopped images and gifs to create meaningful visuals for each line of the poem. There are non traditional menus and submenus identified by bubbles to lead the user through the poem. The website is also coded to be responsive to smaller devices and will show hidden imagery not seen on the desktop view. Through this collaboration, I learned how to work in sync with another creative to make a cohesive outcome.
Local Medical Business | Summer 2022. Client Website. WordPress. Intergrated CSS. Keeping the clients needs at the forefront of the project, this custom medical website was created. I added a google analytics profile as well as refined the site SEO. Keeping open contact we worked together to build a website to create a clean aesthetic with easy navigation for the current and future patients.
Create Your Dreamcatcher | Fall 2019. Hand-coded surrealistic website. HTML, CSS, Javascript. While exploring what I could accomplish from a New Media surrealistic art perspective using JavaScript, I used a dreamcatcher and dream world landscape for this site. Exploring interactivity, I was inspired to engage the user, who is invited to create their own dreamcatcher by clicking and dragging feathers and beads. Once they are satisfied with their design they can take a picture of their art and cherish their dreamscape!
Experimental Artist Website | Fall 2019. HTML, CSS, Javascript, Adobe Photoshop. Practicing hand-coding can be a steep learning curve, but it can lead you to explore ways to express art through the inner workings of the web in a way you didnt think you could achieve. Using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP, I hand-coded this experimental artist website to practice my efforts at coding whilst showcasing some of my New Media art works.
30 Days of TaeKwonDo | Fall 2020. Adobe Premire Pro, HTML, CSS, Javascript. This hand-coded non-linear interactive website set the stage for user exploration through a 30-day endeavor of TaeKwonDo training. During the pandemic, traditional dojang training is non-existent for most martial artists. Hillary used this 30-day period to learn how to train at home, which enabled the development of good habits, improved mind space, and an outlet to create New Media art. Note that TaeKwonDo is not limited to all exercise; diet and rest should also be at the forefront of training. When hovering over the photo grid, users will notice that each photo is representative of the video that plays.
